Roadmap

Olla is being built in phases with a deliberate security-first approach. Each phase has to prove itself before the next one begins:

  1. V1: prove the core liquid staking primitive safely.
  2. V2: decentralize infrastructure and operators.
  3. V3: decentralize protocol governance and coordination.
  4. V4: expand privacy-native staking capabilities.

The roadmap intentionally prioritizes security over speed, operational reliability before decentralization, and simplicity before feature expansion.

V1: Core Liquid Staking Infrastructure

Status: Completed.

Goal: build a secure and seamless liquid staking foundation for Aztec.

Core themes

  • Security hardening and stable accounting
  • Withdrawal reliability and exchange rate correctness
  • Operational simplicity with conservative risk management

Features

  • Native liquid staking deposits and withdrawals
  • stAztec non-rebasing liquid staking token
  • OFT adapter for cross-chain interoperability
  • Instant swaps and liquidity integrations
  • Asynchronous withdrawal queue
  • Validator reward accounting
  • Safety modules and protocol circuit breakers
  • Guardian-controlled emergency procedures
  • Single trusted operator architecture

V2: Operator Decentralization & Infrastructure Expansion

Goal: reduce protocol trust assumptions by decentralizing validator operations and expanding infrastructure capabilities.

Core themes

  • Multi-operator validator architecture
  • Trust minimization
  • Cross-chain interoperability
  • Economic alignment between operators and the protocol

Features

  • Decentralized operator set with onboarding, removal, and reputation tracking
  • Validator performance and rewards oracles with consensus discrepancy detection
  • Dynamic fee distribution across treasury, operators, and insurance reserves
  • Insurance and slashing reserve mechanisms for socialized loss mitigation
  • Cross-chain expansion of stAztec utility via OFT-native integrations
  • Liquidity expansion into lending markets, DEXes, and collateral use-cases

V3: Decentralized Governance

Goal: transition protocol decision-making from a core team model toward community governance.

Core themes

  • Governance decentralization and community coordination
  • Parameter transparency and long-term sustainability
  • stAztec holders retaining governance influence in the Aztec ecosystem

Features

  • Olla governance token for voting, treasury coordination, and incentive alignment
  • On-chain protocol governance over fees, safety parameters, operator approvals, and risk policies
  • stAztec-directed Aztec governance voting so stakers retain ecosystem influence
  • Meta-governance infrastructure for delegated and aggregated voting
  • Progressive decentralization: multisig expansion, timelocked execution, DAO-controlled treasury

A core long-term goal of Olla is ensuring users do not lose governance participation by staking through the protocol. Rather than governance power remaining isolated at the protocol layer, stAztec holders will be able to influence how Olla participates in Aztec governance itself.

V4: Privacy-Native Staking

Goal: leverage Aztec's privacy infrastructure to build private staking primitives.

Core themes

  • Private staking participation
  • Privacy-preserving DeFi and shielded liquidity
  • Confidential governance

Features

  • Shielded staking positions with private deposits and withdrawals
  • Private liquid staking with shielded stAztec balances and transfers
  • Anonymous voting, shielded delegation, and reputation-preserving coordination
  • Privacy-focused staking flows for institutional and treasury use-cases

Long-term vision

Olla aims to become a secure and decentralized liquid staking protocol for Aztec: a core source of staking liquidity, a trust-minimized validator coordination layer, and a privacy-native staking platform for the next generation of on-chain finance.
